Our CTA:

For many years, thousands of Grants Pass Residents, children and adults, have participated in programs provided by the Grants Pass Community Tennis Association as students, players, teachers, and members of the leader corps. As tennis grows in popularity as a participation sport, our programs must also grow to continue meeting the needs of our community

Junior Program:

While our CTA provides high-quality tennis programs for all ages, one of our primary objectives is to continue to improve our Junior Program. A few years ago we had no Junior Program. In a few short years we developed and expanded our program that now includes over 70 juniors, some with current state rankings.

Thanks to the diligent efforts of our Certified Tennis Instructor, Jeffrey Nash and the CTA Board of Directors, we now have a growing Junior Program of which our community can be proud. Last year we had our first USTA Sanctioned Junior Tournament, Tennis Ballers Shot Callers Jr. Championship, which was a tremendous success. This will be an annual event scheduled in August each year. Tournament dates will be posted on our web site and emailed in advance to those whose email address we have.

2008 JUNIOR PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

Expand and strengthen our Junior Tennis Team that will participate in at least 5 USTA sanctioned tournaments.
Schedule annual August Sanctioned Junior Tournament.
Fundraising through sponsors, fund raisers, and Junior Tournament.
Establish various levels of juniors depending on skills.
Increase numbers of juniors ranked in the State. Expand training time, schedule additional court time, and improve junior performance through improved skills, playing in more tournaments, and creating GPCTA.
Junior Ladder competition.
Provide Sponsorship of worthy and needy students to attend tournaments.
Sponsorship Contest - kids who have limited exposure to sport will go through physical test, interview, &/or essay to win a grand prize - year of Instruction (4hr/a mo) + Starter Bag (bag, racquet, etc.).
Continue to improve our results in Regional Team Tennis tournaments.
The GPCTA has won the Ashland tournament for the third time in a row.
